I created BrandAid because I am passionate about forming a bridge to connect appropriate mental health professionals with individuals who are struggling. The use of social media is a powerful method to jumpstart the process of hope, relief, and healing change.
My published research paired with practicing as a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (e-therapy) has given me the necessary knowledge and experience to assist those entering the mental health profession in the digital age. My goal is to provide you with valuable information needed to better understand the online work environment you are about to embark on. Armed with this knowledge, less misunderstanding and limitations to providing treatment will likely occur for you as the therapist.

Dr. Susan Finley is a published researcher, educator, and mental health advocate. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider, and Certified Suicide Prevention Instructor under the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Currently teaching Research & Evaluation Methods for Mental Health Professionals, TeleMental Health Counseling (e-Therapy), and Counseling in the Digital Age at the graduate level, Dr. Finley is also an Associate Adjunct Professor at Santa Monica College within the International Counseling Department, instructing undergraduate students from over 110 countries. She received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Pepperdine University in Organizational Leadership, Master of Science (MS) in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University, and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Media and Psychology from Fordham University in New York City.
Dr. Finley’s work illuminates the ways in which mental health professionals are exploring methods of counseling through online communication and social networking sites to improve their practice and reach more clients, thus helping increasing numbers of people while earning a greater profit. She is particularly invested in studying the legal and ethical “grey areas” encountered while using social media in one’s private practice.
Dr. Finley is actively involved in the community doing advocacy work in suicide prevention and intervention (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) for military and civilian. When not teaching online or in the classroom, she enjoys hiking, running, and rowing and believes in the strong connection between mind, body, and spirit. Originally from New York, Dr. Finley has resided in Los Angeles since 2009.
